Reading for the Real World is a reading series designed for students as a means to develop reading fluency while expanding students’ real world knowledge on a variety of topics. The readings selected for the series range from current developments in science and medicine to social issues in modern society. There are also a number of readings exploring alternative topics of particular interest to young-adult readers. Each reading in the series is accompanied by exercises designed to practice reading and critical thinking skills through reading, speaking, writing, and listening activities.

• Readings based on real world events and issues providing practice with materials similar in content, language, and structure to readings encountered outside the language classroom
